Trump Isn't The Only One Roiling NC GOP Politics-- So Is Would Be Kingmaker Madison Cawthorn

If right-wing former congresswoman Renee Ellmers-- the first congresswoman to endorse Trump back in 2016-- thinks she's going to be filing to run in the March primary tomorrow, she's in for a surprise. The North Carolina Supreme Court has pushed the primaries back 2 months-- and halted candidate filing-- while they look at the dubious legality of the Republican legislature's gerrymandered districts.

In early 2016, she was the only Republican member of Congress who Trump cut ad for. It didn't help Ellmers win her primary though. In fact, it probably hurt her She got clobbered and barely managed to come in second in a 3 way primary race. These were the 2016 primary results:

George Holding- 16,999 (53.4%)

Renee Ellmers- 7,527 (23.6%)

Greg Brannon- 7,320 (23.0%)

Other than that, Ellmers is probably best known for her torrid sex sessions with then majority-leader Kevin McCarthy, maliciously leaked when the Freedom Caucus decided they didn't want McCarthy as speaker, making poor Ellmers road kill. Trump didn't give her a job in his administration and she's been working as a nurse since then... but is eager to try to get back into Congress. In the crowded Republican primary, she'll be running against former Fayetteville Mayor Nat Robertson, state Rep John Szoka (Cumberland Co.) and, almost certainly, Trumpist fanatic Bo Hines, to win the nomination. Hines has been endorsed by would-be North Carolina power broken-- and sociopath-- Madison Cawthorn. By the way, this map, with Cawthorn's official congressional seal on the bottom right, is another of his long list of violations of congressional ethics:

[An aside: Hines, a former North Carolina State University football player, had announced he's running in the neighboring 7th district-- Greensboro-- but then Trump and Cawthorn persuaded religious lunatic and former congressman Mark Walker to drop out of the Senate race and run for Congress in the 7th, forcing Hines to jump to the 4th. Cawthorn has already publicly endorsed them both-- Walker in the 7th and Hines in the 4th.]

After the whole jezebel scandal exploded, Ellmers lost her primary. Now she wants to run in the redrawn 8th district-- now the 4th district (R+10)-- which was made redder by the legislature by increasing the margin Trump would have won by from 6.5% to 6.9% and by decreasing the percentage of college graduates to 22.9% (down 3%). Fewer college graduates is perfect for Ellmers, a moron who appeals to other morons. In her statement yesterday, she said, "Joe Biden is trying to tear apart the very foundations on which this country was formed. We need experienced people to counter his agenda of destruction on Capitol Hill and I’m ready to go and be part of that fight to get our country back on track."

This morning, Politico reported that yesterday McCarthy met with Hines in Washington, but it is unknown which Trumpist McCarthy-- and his corporately-financed PAC-- will get behind, if any, his former lover or Cawthorn's choice.
