The passenger-forced crash of UA Flight 93 in an empty field was a response to the 9/11 attack on the U.S. After Bush tried capitalizing on it on TV with the phrase “Let's Roll,”  Neil Young was sickened and quickly wrote the song of the same name, a tribute to the heroism and valor of the people on that flight who refused to allow it to be used as a weapon.

“Let Roll Again” is the debut single— released today— by Young’s new band, Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts, just a couple of weeks after his appearance in L.A. with Bernie and AOC at a massive rally at L.A.’s City Hall. An anti-Musk/anti-fascist pro-electric car (but not Tesla) paean, he borrowed the melody from anti-fascist songwriter Woody Guthrie (“This Land Is Your Land”). It will be part of his new album, Talkin’ To The Trees, out next month. The band’s tour starts May 23 in Selwyn, Canada, skips over to Wellington, New Zealand (June 13) and then gets organized June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden (3 hours northeast of Stockholm) and winds up at the Hollywood Bowl (September 15). In between are dates in Bergen (Norway), Copenhagen, Brussels, Groningen (Holland), Berlin, Monchengladbach (Gerrmany), Stuttgart, London (Hyde Park, July 11), Paris, starts a U.S. leg in Charlotte (August 8), Richmond, Cuyahoga Falls, Toronto, Gilford (NH), Jones Beach (NY), Bethel (NY), Chicago, Milwaukee, Englewood (Colorado), Gorge Amphitheatre (WA), Burnaby (Canada), Bend (OR), and Mountain View (CA).

This morning, Thania Garcia reported that the song “takes aim at Elon Musk and his electric car company with lyrics like ‘If you’re a fascist, then get a Tesla’ and ‘If it’s electric/It doesn’t matter/If you’re a Democrat, then taste your freedom/Get whatever you want, and taste your freedom.’ The song was released alongside a music video that featured a ‘Heil Tesla’ image depicting Musk’s controversial and alleged Nazi-style salute.”
