On Fox News Sunday, Lindsey Graham predicted one big winner from the Trump impeachment trial is Eric Trump's unhinged wife, Lara. "The biggest winner of this whole impeachment trial is Lara Trump," said Graham. "My dear friend Richard Burr [who, unlike as slicker Graham, voted to convict Trump and his retiring], who I like and have been friends to a long time, just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs, and I certainly will be behind her because she represents the future of the Republican Party."
Gee, I'm so old I remember when multimillionaire Congressman Robin Hayes was the future of the North Carolina Republican Party... until he lost his House seat to a Democrat by 10 points (2008)-- after blurting out on the campaign trail that "liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God"-- and then went on to serve as chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party where he was arrested on bribery charges and indicted for that plus wire fraud and three counts of making false statements to the FBI. He claimed he was being framed-- until resigning as party chair and pleasing guilty. Trump pardoned him on his final day in the White House. But he's not the future of the GOP any long. Apparently Lara is.
Yesterday, Hayes' successor as chair, far right freak Michael Whatley, led a successful move to censure Burr for voting to convict Trump, and daring to say publicly that "The evidence is compelling that President Trump is guilty of inciting an insurrection against a coequal branch of government and that the charge rises to the level of high Crimes and Misdemeanors. Therefore, I have voted to convict."
Another extremist running for Burr's senate seat is former Congressman, Mark Walker, and normally you would think he would be the front-runner. He's a proven far right sociopath who ran away from a fight the second a judge un-gerrymandered his district. He was a dummy and couldn't get into a real college so he went to a Buy-Bull school, then became a southern Baptist preacher and worked in the financial industry cheating suckers out of their investments. He calls himself "a conservative warrior," is a rapid opponent of Medicare and public health, an unrepentant misogynist, an anti-Catholic bigot and was always competing with other North Carolina members to have the furthest right voting record. Oh, and the guy who was being bribed by Hayes... Walker, a nortorious DC swamp creature, of course. With that in mind, you might want to watch this Senate announcement video:
Although he was endorsed by fellow fascist Mad Cawthorn last week, Lara looks like she could beat him on the Domestic Terrorist Party primary. A poll released late last year shows her kicking Walker's ass:

Does it even matter? Unless Chuck Schumer interferes again, the next U.S. Senator from North Carolina is going to be progressive firebrand and former state Senator Erica Smith. This afternoon she told me that "Lara Trump is cripplingly unqualified. She is out of touch with working people and she hasn't lived in North Carolina for years. Lara Trump's only claim to fame is her father-in-law-- who's been twice impeached, banned from social media and lost re-election. She can go ahead and run on his record which includes attempts to take away people's healthcare, revoke workers' overtime pay and start trade wars that American farmers were forced to pay the price for."
And Erica was just getting started! She continued by noting that "Lindsey Graham may think she'll do well if she moves away from her Central Park South condo and comes down to North Carolina, but I disagree. The people of North Carolina want one of us who'll stand up and fight for all of us. They want someone who's spent their life working on and fighting for Main Street, side streets and unpaved streets. The only street Lara Trump is in touch with is Park Avenue and the driveway up to Mar-a-Lago. What we can't do, is allow her to get the Republican nomination and then go up against an establishment or corporate Democrat. We need a candidate who can unite working class North Carolinains and appeal to rural voters. I come from and live in rural North Carolina and I'll be running on an aggressive platform to raise wages, protect workers, create jobs and strengthen unions."
