I'm so curious to know why Pramila didn't include seditionists Mary Miller (R-IL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-GA), Mad Cawthorn (Nazi-NC) and some of the others who gave aid and comfort (and directions) to the violent insurrections on 1/6. Don't get me wrong-- Lauren Boebert, Mo Brooks and Paul Gosar would be on any list of traitors.
This afternoon, Pramila told me that she thinks "It's critical that we get to the bottom of exactly what happened on January 6th when insurrectionists launched a deadly attack on our Capitol, our country, and our very democracy. This includes holding any members of Congress who stoked violence, aided insurrectionists, or took part in the riot fully accountable. What we already know from the public evidence so far is that Representatives Boebert, Brooks, and Gosar were involved in instigating and aiding the deadliest and most destructive attack on the U.S. Capitol since the War of 1812. Now, we need these ethics investigations to uncover what we don’t know as we get the full picture of what occurred and ensure that there is finally justice for all involved."
In the letter she sent to House Ethics Committee chair Ted Deutch and co-chair Jackie Walorski, regarding Boebert, Pramila went beyond just Boebert's lies on social media and noted that she "has maintained close ties to known extremist groups present at the January 6 insurrection. In 2019, shortly after Representative Boebert launched her campaign, she posed for a photo at a pro-gun rally with local members of the Three Percenters, a militia group known for their pro-gun and anti-government views. In photos of the January 6 attack, some participants are waving Three Percent flags. The Southern Poverty Law Center has categorized some of their members as dangerous "anti-government extremists." One of the individuals arrested for participating ing the riot posted a photo of the restaurant Represenattive Boebert owns in Rifle, Colorado."
Pramila also reminded the chair and co-chair that Brooks shared information about Pelosi's whereabouts during the riot and that even after the riot was quelled, Brooks "continued to suggest violence" on social media and reiterated the points he made during a speech he delivered at the rally before the riot began.
All 3 are denying their participation in the failed coup. Boebert, a high school dropout and gun nut, wrote in a statement that "Rep. Jaypal needs to spend more time investigating the insurrection that took place in her own district over the summer and less time trying to connect me to the attack on our Capitol that I have repeatedly condemned." Twitter today was on fire with people basically accusing Boebert of sedition, if not treason.
