This is a second-rate new ad from a shady Mike Pence SuperPAC, Advancing American Freedom, that started running today slamming a pack of mostly conservative Democrats: New Dem Cindy Axne (IA), New Dem Colin Allred (TX), Blue Dog Henry Cuellar (TX), New Dem Lizzie Fletcher (TX), Blue Dog Vicente Gozalez (TX), Blue Dog Jared Golden (ME), Blue Dog Tom O'Halleran (AZ), New Dem Sharice Davids (KS), Blue Dog Abigail Spanberger (VA), New Dem Elaine Luria (VA), Blue Dog Kurt Schrader (OR), Blue Dog Josh Gottheimer (NJ), New Dem Chrissy Houlahan and New Dem Susan Wild. The non-conservative Democrats being targeted are Matt Cartwright (PA), Marcy Kaptur (OH) and Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM).
Pence is spending $10 million on the scattershot ad with which he hopes to ingratiate himself to Republican candidates and further distance himself from Trump's pro-Putin/anti-Ukraine positions. He managed to round up a bunch of right-wing cranks and clowns for his board: Trumpist Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, crooked Trumpist Interior Secretaries David Bernhardt and Andrew Wheeler, Kellyanne Conway, Arizona governor and Trump enemy Doug Ducey, Newt Gingich and his most recent wife Callista, Trumpist ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Trumpist Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, detested former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Trumpist OMB director Russ Vought, lunatic fringe religionists Robert Jeffress and Gary Bauer, ex-senators Rick Santorum and Jim DeMint, infamous sociopath Brent Bozell, child actor-turned-evangelical nut Kirk Cameron and drug addict Larry Kudlow.
Presumably, Pence is hoping that people who watch this ad don't ask themselves why he can't account for what he was doing for the years 2017-2021 when was serving in an administration that catered to Vladimir Putin and did everything in its power to destabilize and undercut NATO and democracy in Ukraine. Politics, after all, didn't just begin when Trump and Pence had their drip, drip, drip falling out.
