And Sports Teams Make A Deal With The Devil

Flags at half staff for a great white hope. A Medal Of Honor and a Sunday evening prayer vigil at The Kennedy Center. Moments of silence with a photo portrait on the Jumbotron at sporting events around the country, a Florida congresswoman calling for a statue of the victim to be permanently installed right in the Capitol Building....  Contrary to the thoughts and prayers of Republicans around the country, the tragic death of Charlie Kirk that was stupidly orchestrated (allegedly) by some obviously mentally kaput probable groyper was not on a par with a pope's death or even an elected official being killed in a hail of bullets (like for instance the murders of Democrats in Minnesota which continue to be ignored by Republicans), or heroic astronauts dying in space. No, Charlie Kirk was little more than a new, improved 21st century version of David Duke or George Wallace with long term presidential aspirations. That's only "new and improved" if you happen to be of the GOP persuasion, of course.

The White House and the rest of the GOP leadership instantly saw the horrible death of Charlie Kirk as a two-pronged opportunity to be used to shift the daily dialog from talk about the Epstein Files and to stifle dissent before Kirk's body even got to the hospital in a vain attempt to save his life. Trump, like most if not all republicans, immediately trotted out the old "Leftists, Marxist, Democrats did it" canard and that went viral among Republicans across the entire country as planned. This Republican reaction to such a sick event is also a tragedy. A horrible event has been turned, willfully, and with forethought, into propaganda, irresponsibility, and demagoguery.

The following is from the press release that announced Sunday's vigil:

The service will be a unifying event focused on prayer, mourning, and celebrating the life, legacy, and memory of Charlie Kirk- a national treasure whose life was cut far too short.

OK, I get it. Anything to shift the dialog away from the Trump-Epstein scandal. Marketing a shooting victim as a martyr for the overall GOP cause? Sure, why not. That's what the worst of us would see as natural; Authoritarianism 101. The vomitous verbiage that continuously spewed forth from Charlie Kirk amounted to a kind of Republican Party convention platform. Republicans obviously considered him as some sort of icon. A "national treasure" and "unifying?" That's sick and totally un-American but the perverse beauty of that is that they are within their rights to act like they've been doing for so long. Call their love for Charlie Kirk their version of woke.

Here are some select quotes from the now dead Grand Wizard wannabe. Yes, I know that social media right now is jam packed with rightwingers claiming that quoting their dear boy is akin to calling for violence but, if that's true, then the source of the quotes was calling for violence not those of us who simply quote what he said. To put it another way, if Kirk was such a damn saint, why do Republicans get mad when we disdainfully quote him? And, to think, there are actually fools that think you can reason with these people. Reach across the aisle my ass.

1. The American Democrat Party hates this country. They wanna see it collapse. They love it when America becomes less white.
2. The great replacement strategy, which is well underway every single day in our southern border, is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different.
3. I think it's worth it to have a cost, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. (April 5, 2023, at Turning Point, USA. A version of this was reportedly also uttered by Kirk just before he was shot.)
4. This is something that I hope will make Taylor Swift more conservative. Engage in reality morre... Reject feminism. Submit to your husband. You're not in charge. (To Taylor Swift upon the announcement of her engagement to Travis Kelce August 26, 2025)
5. You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken seriously. You had to go steal a white person's slot to go be taken somewhat seriously. (Speaking about Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Ketanji Brown Jackson on his radio show, July 13, 2023)
6. If I see a black pilot, I'm going to be like boy, I hope he's qualified. (January 23, 2024. Hmmm, I wonder what he would have thought if the pilot had ever happened to be a black woman!)
7. I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made up, new age term that does a lot of damage. (On the Charlie Kirk Radio Show where he himself did a lot of damage.)
8. A man who calls himself trans is wearing 'woman face,' no different than I would wear Black face trying to be a Black person. It's assuming an identity that isn't yours. (Well, no Charlie. That ain't it. BTW, have you noticed how so many of these anti-trans guys never bring up "women wearing 'man face' or whatever they want to call it? That doesn't bother them equally or at all? Might they really be just fearing something about themselves?)
9. Gun control, like vaccines and masks, is focused on making people feel 'safe' by taking freedoms away from others. Don't fall for it.

Have you noticed the constant complaint from Republicans who bitch that we call them nazis or racists. That is, of course, a blatant attempt to get us to stop calling them exactly what they are. Now, they are attempting to turn the tragic murder of Mr. Kirk not just into some sort of Republican Jesus style martyrdom but, even more importantly to them, an opportunity and a means to stifle and even crush dissent. People are getting fired just for either quoting Kirk directly or simply giving someone an apt description of the man. Don't be cowed. Don't be a Chuck Schumer or someone even worse like MSNBC's Supreme Kissass Joe Scarborough. Speak truth to power. If we don't label them as what they are, they will continue to label themselves as normals and patriots without any consequence when they are anything but. This is not a "They just have different views thing." If these miscreants don't want to be thought of as Nazis, tell them the solution is to stop speaking and acting like Nazis. Our so-called leaders have given them an inch only to see them take ten miles for decades no matter what we in the minority say.

I mentioned sporting events above so I will now get into a deal with the Devil that the New York Yankees baseball team seems to have made: Before their game at Yankee Stadium last Wednesday night, the Yankees put up a giant photo of Charlie Kirk on their scoreboard and asked for a moment of silence from the crowd. They've done that in the past for former players who have passed away. That makes sense, but, Charlie Kirk? A far right podcast host? The Yankees certainly didn't do anything of the sort for Rep. Melissa Hortman when she, her husband, and their dog were assassinated in their home by a Trumpie. There was no moment of silence anywhere for Officer David Rose when he was shot and killed defending a federal CDC building last month. They didn't ask for prayers when Nancy Pelosi's husband had his skull shattered open with a hammer by a Trump Goon in their house. How about the anti-black mass shooting in the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina? Perhaps the reason sits in the fact that Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman and team President Randy Levine are avowed Trump supporters. As for the Steinbrenner family who own the team. I don't know 100% for sure but I do remember when their father George M. Steinbrenner shifted some campaign contribution money to Nixon in a shady way and got suspended by the league for it. Different times.

It gets worse. The next night, the anniversary of 9/11, the team had Traitor Trump himself, the man who tried to otherthrow the 2020 election results by sending a murder mob right into the Capitol Building, as a personal guest in their personal box, and of course he managed to have the boos of the crowd whitewashed from the korporate media coverage. That same night, the Yankees Entertainment & Sports network started running ICE recruitment ads for TV viewers to see. Obviously, a phone call from the White House was made and a package deal went down. Trump even got led into the team clubhouse before the game. Now, I'm sure that, among the players, various political views are held, but what were any of them going to do when it was requested that they pose for a photo with the nation's number one traitor and domestic terrorist. Be sure to take a good look at the photo below. Yankees management even provided some sort of pedestal (white of course) for their Dear Leader Trump to stand on so he wouldn't appear too small compared to the players. Having 6'8" Aaron Judge crouching down on a knee is an additional nice touch.

And speaking of taking a knee: Remember when professional football players taking a knee to protest police brutality was cause for trade, suspension, or banning from the league? San Francisco 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick was permanently disappeared from the league even after leading his team to a Super Bowl. Maybe they'll bring him back if he starts up a podcast and starts singing the praises of Donald Trump and Vlad Putin. Anyway, there were 13 NFL games this past Sunday. Only 4 of the home teams refused to do a Charlie Kirk mandated moment of silence thing for the GOP. I guess that tells you a little something about the bigoted proclivities of the scumbag billionaires who own most of the teams. They did it and they don't give a damn about all those African-American players toiling on the fields. Not much has changed there. At least they get paid now.

OK, I'm nearing the end for today. Charlie Kirk was not a well person. Trump is not a well person. There is absolutely no indication that anyone in his cabinet is a well person. RFK Jr.? Tulsi Gabbard? Kristi Noem? Marco "Starve The Children" Rubio? I need not go further. It's a very long list which extends deep into Congress and beyond.

A final thought for today: Think about what Hitler did after the Reichstag fire. It was used to crush dissent and any opposition that could raise its head. Just a thought.

Now Trump's henchman Brendan Carr at the FCC has ordered ABC to "suspend indefinitely" the Late-Night Show with Jimmy Kimmel. Toddler Trump just can't handle being the butt of really good jokes! But why are so many institutions caving in to this pathetic orange con man and horror show? Professor Timothy Snyder and journalist Chris Hedges have both said that you will know when you are living in a full-blown dictatorship once the media is fully controlled by the regime in power. It sure seems like the thought police have taken over completely now and democracy in America has become a thing of the past, for real. OMG! What's next?
