Today, I offer (above) my version of what amounts to, not a vacation postcard from Florida, but what amounts to a postcard about Florida and the direction it is obviously and eagerly going in under the thumbs of Ron DeSantis and his nazi-Republican legislators. This is no exaggeration. It is not hyperbole. We should always try to remember that, as Germany became the horror that it became in the 1930s, there were many Germans who saw but didn't heed the warning signs or even laughed at them. They took an "It can't happen here!" attitude. They were naive to the point of being suicidal. They did nothing and then it was way too late and there was nothing they could do. History does have a steady inclination to repeat itself. If we let it, it will replicate like a deadly virus.
That sign above is a sign that might as well be serving as the preface to the Republican Party's 2024 platform. When Republicans say that they want to Make America Florida, believe them. Believe them to the core of your being. Whether Ronna Romney McDaniel and her fellow RNC travelers go to their fetid cesspool and choose DeSantis, or Trump, or someone else just as bad, the direction the GOP wants to, vicious step by vicious step, take this country in has been clear at least since the days of Nixon and that direction has exponentially accelerated in the last few years. It's been given a free pass and more by the likes of Moscow Mitch and Kremlin Kevin with a strong assist by the likes of goonish propagandists and billionaire funding sources whose names need not be mentioned here today.
Choose your side wisely and tell your friends and representatives that floating through life wherever the winds take you isn't going to stop anything.
