JD Vance Might As Well Give Up-- He Can't Win Now

Club for Growth's thirty second TV ad (above), if it gets out in the backward, unvaccinated rural red counties where Trump racked up landslides last year-- like Holmes (Trump- 83.2%), Putnam (Trump- 82.3%), Mercer (Trump- 81.8%), Adams (Trump- 81.3%), Darke (Trump- 81.0%), Noble (Trump- 80.9%), Shelby (Trump- 80.7%), and Auglaize (Trump- 80.5%)-- should end JD Vance's senatorial pretensions quickly. Tens of thousands of Ohio Trump voters are just not going to get beyond this. So far Club for Growth has put up $470,000 for TV and radio ads. If they say out of the big expensive Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo,Akron and Dayton, they should be able to blanket the reddest counties in the state.

And that isn't the only ad that the far right wing of the GOP is bashing Vance with. Watch the one at the bottom-- a 30 second clip ("Elitist") about to go on air in the Cincinnati media market during NCAA and NFL games, courtesy of USA Freedom Fund. They are also running it on Fox News radio. And, like Club for Growth, they're spending $470,000.

Both USA Freedom Fund and Club For Growth are coordinating their attacks against Vance with Josh Mandel, who, ironically, is far more of a real life elitist than Vance.

Vance's campaign is all about begging for forgiveness and apologizing. "Like a lot of people, I criticized Trump back in 2016. And I ask folks not to judge me based on what I said in 2016, because I’ve been very open that I did say those critical things and I regret them, and I regret being wrong about the guy. I think he was a good president, I think he made a lot of good decisions for people, and I think he took a lot of flak."

The Democratic establishment is running a typical wishy-washy nothing candidate, a careerist who stands for nothing much, and doing their best to ignore the progressive in the race, Morgan Harper, who said in her campaign announcement that "This is a wide open U.S. Senate seat in one of the most competitive states in the country. But between you and me, I don’t think Democrats will flip Ohio if we nominate another establishment insider. Ohioans want a senator who’s on their side-- someone with a track record of fighting the system, not upholding the status quo... I’ve committed my life to fighting inequality-- so that every kid can have the opportunities I did regardless of the circumstances of their upbringing... I’m running for U.S. Senate in Ohio to take on systemic inequality and ensure every Ohio kid has a chance to succeed. It will not be easy. I’m not a career politician. I don’t enter this race with a rolodex of wealthy donors behind me. And, yes, I fully expect the Republicans to spend tens of millions of dollars to keep this Senate seat. But Ohioans are hungry for change." You can contribute to her campaign by clicking here or above the 2022 Blue America Senate thermometer.
