It started with some KKK types in the Georgia legislature-- Victor Anderson, Clint Crowe, Matt Barton, Jason Ridley, Lauren McDonald III, Stan Gunter, Dewayne Hill and Marcus Wiedower. They decided to boycott Coke after the company dared to scold the GOP for efforts to disenfranchise minority voters. This is the letter they sent over the weekend to Kevin Perry, president of the Georgia Beverage Association, demanding he remove all Coca-Cola products from their offices immediately. The CEO of Coke, James Quincey, had enraged them by saying that "We want to be crystal clear and state unambiguously that we are disappointed in the outcome of the Georgia voting legislation... [O]ur focus is now on supporting federal legislation that protects voting access and addresses voter suppression across the country. We all have a duty to protect everyone's right to vote and we will continue to stand up for what is right in Georgia and across the U.S."
For racists in the Georgia GOP, thems fightin' words! Neo-fascist Trump extremist Matt Schlapp announced that he would boycott Coke and would drink Pepsi instead. "Switching to Diet Pepsi in the Schlapp house," he tweeted.
Trump poured gasoline of the fire with a statement to his supporters to boycott all the "woke companies that are interfering with free and fair elections." Aside from Coke, he called on MAGAs to boycott Delta, UPS, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, Merck and major league baseball, all of whom also oppose Georgia's new Jim Crow legislation. Trump gave his followers their marching orders: "Don't go back to their products until they relent. We can play the game better than them... They rigged and stole our 2020 Presidential Election, which we won by a landslide, and then, on top of that, boycott and scare companies into submission. Never submit, never give up! The Radical Left will destroy our Country if we let them. We will not become a Socialist Nation. Happy Easter!"
