Ready For TEXIT? Backward Rednecks In Texas Want To Secede-- Let Them Go... Give Them Money To Go!

Not, Bryan Slaton, Ronny Jackson-- Same Kind Of Garbage

Yesterday was the 187th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo, in state Rep. Bryan Slaton’s warped mind, the perfect day to propose a bill calling for a referendum on secession, HB 3596, the Texas Independence Referendum Act, which traitors down there are already calling TEXIT. Just for the record, San Antonio, which is where the Alamo is, would be a strong vote in opposition. How do I know? Bexar, which includes San Antonio, as well as its traditionally Republican suburbs, voted 58.2% for Biden in 2020 and for Beto in last year’s gubernatorial election. I’d guess that if Slaton gets Texas to secede from the Union, Bexar would be one of the counties seceding from Texas.

Slaton wrote that “If passed, it will place a referendum on the ballot during the next general election, allowing the people of Texas to vote on whether or not the State should investigate the possibility of Texas independence, and present potential plans to the Legislature…Texas was born out of a desire for liberty and self-governance, and that desire continues to burn in the hearts of all Texans.’

Texas’ 2nd state House district is a rural area east of Dallas, as red— and disloyal to America— as they come. There are all or part of 3 hellish counties in the district:

  • Hopkins (79.8% Trump— 40% vaccinated)

  • Hunt (75.6% Trump— 43% vaccinated)

  • Van Zandt (85.6% Trump— 38% vaccinated)

Last year the Democrats didn’t put up an opponent to neo-Nazi incumbent (Slaton), a glutinous pastor, “educated” in religionist schools and as vicious and bigoted as anyone in state government. Until yesterday, he was best known for a bill he introduced that would criminalize abortion, making it possible for a woman who received an abortion to be executed (along with her doctor). Needless to say, he’s also obsessed with drag shows.

Yesterday’s official choice of The Atlantic’s editors as a “must read” was an essay by Adrienne LaFrance, The New Anarchy, which asserts that “America faces a type of extremist violence it does not know how to stop.” She wrote that “In recent years, Americans have contemplated a worst-case scenario, in which the country’s extreme and widening divisions lead to a second Civil War. But what the country is experiencing now— and will likely continue to experience for a generation or more— is something different. The form of extremism we face is a new phase of domestic terror, one characterized by radicalized individuals with shape-shifting ideologies willing to kill their political enemies. Unchecked, it promises an era of slow-motion anarchy.”

I’d rather see the red counties like Hopkins, Hunt and Van Zandt in Texas that elect something like Slaton just leave, like they want to. We’ll be better off without them— and they’re sure they’ll be better off without us. Marjorie Traitor Greene has been advocating for the same thing. There are all or part of 11 counties in her backward northwest Georgia congressional district. She won 10 of them by huge majorities. She lost the part of Cobb County that has the misfortune of being in her district by a huge margin and, I’m sure they would stick with the U.S., not join the New Confederacy.
