When I first heard that Nikkki 3 Ks Haley had lost in the recent Nevada Republican Primary, I was not at all surprised. The choices had been Haley, Mike Pence, and "None Of These Candidates." "None" came in first. KKK Lady came in second, and the catatonic Pence came in third. Also, I was immediately reminded of the scene in Brewster's Millions where Richard Pryor's character ran for Mayor of Chicago as "None Of The Above" and won. That's about where we are right now folks!
The political conventions just might be real circuses this year, or, sometime in the near future if we still have elections. I can see them as total game shows, with contestants (candidates) trying to be the first to slam on their buzzers to answer questions and being judged on their ability to be evasive or fit the most bullshit into the fewest amount of words. And then, a big finale where giant lighted wheels spin to choose the winners. Ah, but what to do with the losers? Can our society find them honest work? I suppose a few of them can adapt.
