Matt Gaetz Obliterates Whatever Was Left Of Kevin McCarthy— Watch The Film

They say history is written by the victor and— at least for now— the victor is Matt Gaetz, who almost single-handedly plunged the Republican conference into Trump-sanctioned chaos and took the speaker’s gavel away from Kevin McCarthy, also Trump-sanctioned. Try as he might, McCarthy was never really MAGA, or MAGA enough. Trump wanted someone who would be an agent of the kind of dysfunction that could be blamed on, of all people, Biden. Gaetz was the henchman. And by the way, that phrase about the victors writing history is often attributed to Winston Churchill, but the first recorded usage was in 1835 in a speech by Alexis de Tocqueville who said, "History is written by the victors, and the victors always have an interest in distorting the truth."

Gaetz was clearly getting revenge for McCarthy;s interview in Thursday where he blasted Gaetz in no uncertain terms, telling Manu Raju on CNN that the House Republican conference would benefit "tremendously" if Gaetz was gone. He also criticized Gaetz’s allies who voted to remove him, especially Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Tim Burchett (R-TN). Of Mace, he said, “If you've watched just her philosophy and the flip flopping, I don't believe she wins reelection. I don't think she'll probably have earned the right to get reelected.” That’s probably wishful thinking. Early Friday morning he seemed to imply he would financially help the Virginia Delegate John McGuire, who’s challenging Bob Good from the right. If Good is 100 on the 1-100 scale of American fascism, McGuire— a J-6 insurrectionist— is 120.

McCarthy has been completely humiliated by Gaetz-- again. And there's absolutely nothing he can do about it.
