I Hope You Find It Useful When We Keep Track Of Faithless Democrats Who Vote With The GOP

Especially On Existential Issues Like Global Warming

Not for Members of Congress who don't get a damn

Yesterday, 6 of the most reactionary Democrats in Congress voted with the Republicans to pass August Plugger’s resolution to nullify the EPA’s annual charge on emissions of methane and other greenhouse gases from the oil and gas sector if the emissions exceed 25,000 metric tons. The rule should have been 1,000 metric tons. There was even one Republican, Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), who voted against it. The Democrats, the usual suspects who can usually be counted on to betray the Democratic brand:

  • Henry Cuellar (Blue Dog-TX)

  • Jared Golden (Blue Dog-ME)

  • Vicente Gonzalez (Blue Dog-TX)

  • Adam Gray (Blue Dog-CA)

  • Kristen Rivet (New Dem-MI)

  • Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Blue Dog-WA)

Bribe-taking Democrat Joyce Beatty, who represents Columbus, Ohio, voted “present.” Maybe Beatty, whose career and household were financed by the pay-day lender industry is unaware that methane is about 28 times as powerful as a global warming agent as carbon dioxide. Democrats in Columbus who support heating up the planet should help reelect her next year.

The rule was designed to prevent 1.2 million metric tons of methane from entering the atmosphere, the equivalent to taking nearly 8 million gas-powered cars off the road for a year.

Obviously, no one is going to tell you to vote for an even worse Republican than a shitty-enough right-wing corporate Democrat. Primaries, on the other hand, are certainly called for in each of these cases. And by the way, this is what each candidate's campaign got from the DCCC and the House Majority Caucus... not enough to buy even a modicum of party loyalty:

  • Jared Golden- $10,871,815

  • Adam Gray- $12,313,286

  • Marie Gluesenkamp Perez- $8,863,393

  • Kristen Rivet- $5,585,329

  • Vicente Gonzalez- $222,788
