Today Alan Grayson will be making it official: he's running for the U.S. seat currently occupied-- and regularly disgraced-- by Marco Rubio. Grayson was one of the most inspiring and effective members of the House. If Joe Manchin wants to find out what real bipartisanship is all about, he should sit at Grayson's feet and learn how it's done without giving the Republicans a guaranteed veto over all outcomes.
As he was thinking about taking on this onerous task, Grayson outlines some the obvious problems plaguing us as a society:
Ridiculously expensive healthcare, that often isn’t there when you need it.
Low wages and salaries; no benefits.
The worst pandemic mismanagement, anywhere in the world.
Pervasive racism, sexism, and every other evil-ism.
Absurdly expensive higher education.
Pollution, especially carbon pollution, and climate deterioration.
A democratic system suffocated by Big Money and special interests.
Grayson noted that there is a common thread underneath all of these problems. He said it is "Selfishness. Selfishness and the appalling inequality that results from it. I don’t want to just campaign for the Senate. I want to campaign against selfishness-- and campaign for kindness, fairness, equality, and compassion. 'The better angels of our nature,' as Lincoln said."
Grayson then quoted Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address, one month before he died: "With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan-- to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations."

And this is the very interesting video Grayson's campaign released this morning. Most of it was an old Donald Trump video released to show what a worthless POS Marco Rubio is. Of course that was in 2016 and now TRump and Rubio are in bed together... being worthless POS together. But back in 2016, this was the video that ended Rubio's pretensions about not just being president, but even about winning his own state. I think Grayson uses it well:
